Asmat Tribe Festival 10D/9N

One of the highlights of the Asmat Festival is the "sago worm" eating contest, where participants compete to see who can eat the most sago worms, a traditional Asmat delicacy. The festival also includes a canoe race, which showcases the Asmat people's skills in navigating the region's waterways.

Itinerary
Day 1. OCTOBER 5. EWER OF ASMAT
After your arrival in Timika by Lion Air in the morning, and then continue the flight by Wings Air to Ewer of Asmat. Because there are no cars, you will be transferred by motorbike to the harbor. Your luggage will be transported by wheelbarrow to the harbor. You continue by a small motorboat in about 30 minutes to Agats, the capital of Asmat regency. Once you arrived, you will go to your accommodation for check in.
Afterward you will explore the attraction nearby. Experience the allure of Agats, where life thrives above the swamp. With 85% of the area covered in swamp and dense forest. Agats offers a unique landscape where shops, churches, mosques, sports centers, and houses are interconnected by wooden roads on stilts. After you enjoyed the short trip, you will go back to the accommodation. Dinner and rest.
Day 2. OCTOBER 6. OPENING CEREMONY OF ASMAT FESTIVAL
Today after breakfast you will attend the opening ceremony of Asmat Festival. Enjoy the traditional dances, music performances, witness canoe ceremonies, sago processing and woodcarving. Afterward, you will go back to your accommodation. The rest of the day you can use for your personal needs.
Day 3 - 7. OCTOBER 7 - 11. ASMAT FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES
Attending Asmat Festival and tour activities. See the processing sago (sago is the main food in Asmat), to make pure Sago can be one day and some of the locals also take the sago worm for protein. You will have the chance to taste the local food. You can learn more about the Asmat culture, join the local people to catch the shrimps and fishes. Collect wonderful art and observe how the local people utilize interesting techniques in their artwork.
Lunch and Dinner will be served in the local restaurant or in the accommodation.
Day 8. OCTOBER 12. CLOSING CEREMONY OF ASMAT FESTIVAL
Attending the Closing ceremony of Asmat Festival.
Day 9. OCTOBER 13. FLIGHT BACK TO TIMIKA
Today you will go to the airport and flight to Timika. After your arrival in in Timika you will take a short trip to visit Kuala Kencana. The modern town inside the forest which was built by Freeport Company. The Kuala Kencana district consists of forest, open land, settlements, and dry land agriculture. Also presents several public facilities such as schools, restaurants, libraries, salons, and the main square. Then we continue with driving to the accommodation.
Day 10. OCTOBER 14. TIMIKA AIRPORT
After breakfast you will go to the airport for your flight to your next destination.
