From Bukit Lawang Into the Jungle
Begin your journey with the transfer into Bukit Lawang before entering the rainforest. The following days are dedicated to jungle trekking and wildlife observation, with overnight stays in simple jungle surroundings before returning to the village and continuing your onward journey.

Itinerary
Bukit Lawang Orangutan & Rainforest Adventure
Four days of rainforest exploration, wildlife observation and river adventure in and around Bukit Lawang and the Gunung Leuser National Park.
From Medan to the Rainforest
After breakfast and check-out, meet your driver and begin the journey from Medan towards Bukit Lawang. The drive takes approximately 3–4 hours, passing through rural landscapes, plantations and local villages as the scenery gradually changes from the city to the rainforest.
Arrive in Bukit Lawang and check in to your accommodation beside the Bohorok River. The remainder of the day is free to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Into Gunung Leuser National Park
After breakfast, meet your local jungle guide and begin your trek into the rainforest. Follow forest trails through dense tropical vegetation while learning about the area's plants, wildlife and rainforest ecosystem.
Throughout the trek, keep watch for Sumatran orangutans and other rainforest species. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, as the animals move freely through their natural habitat.
Enjoy a simple jungle lunch before continuing deeper into the forest. In the afternoon, reach the riverside campsite where you can relax, swim in the river where conditions permit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the rainforest.
Dinner is prepared at camp before spending the night surrounded by the sounds of the jungle.
Deeper Into the Jungle
Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest and enjoy a simple breakfast at camp. Continue exploring the jungle with your guide, following forest trails and taking time to observe the surrounding flora and wildlife.
After the morning trek, continue towards a waterfall or river area where you can take a refreshing break, subject to weather and local conditions.
Later, begin the return journey by traditional river tubing, sometimes known locally as a jungle taxi. Float down the Bohorok River towards Bukit Lawang before returning to your accommodation. The remainder of the day is free to relax.
Return to Medan
Enjoy breakfast at your accommodation before checking out. Your private vehicle will take you back to Medan, with the journey taking approximately 3–4 hours depending on road and traffic conditions.
On arrival in Medan, you can continue to your hotel or Kualanamu International Airport for your onward journey.
