Orangutans, River & Rainforest
Explore Tanjung Puting from the water and on foot, with opportunities to observe Bornean orangutans, proboscis monkeys, macaques and a variety of birdlife. Visit Camp Leakey, Pondok Tanggui and Tanjung Harapan while discovering the rainforest ecosystem and conservation work taking place within the park.
Deeper Into Tanjung Puting
The additional night allows more time to explore the national park without rushing between wildlife sites. Your journey combines river cruising, forest walks, orangutan observation, conservation experiences and quiet evenings aboard the klotok.
Three Nights on the River
Your traditional wooden klotok becomes your floating base for three nights. During the day, the open deck provides a perfect place for wildlife observation and relaxing between excursions, while meals are prepared onboard by your cook.
Beyond Wildlife Sightings
The journey also offers an introduction to the conservation and research efforts within Tanjung Puting. Depending on park operations and conditions, visits may include research or reforestation areas alongside the orangutan sites.
Flexible Wildlife Exploration
Travel privately with your own klotok, guide, cook and boat crew. The daily pace and sequence can be adjusted according to river conditions, wildlife activity, park regulations and local operating schedules.
A Remote & Authentic River Journey
Klotok accommodation is simple and closely connected to nature. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, and the exact sequence of activities may change due to weather, river conditions, park regulations, feeding schedules and animal behaviour.

From Camp Leakey and Pondok Tanggui to reforestation areas and riverside communities, the journey combines wildlife observation, rainforest exploration and a peaceful experience on the Sekonyer River.
Arrival & River Wildlife
Meet your team at Pangkalan Bun Airport and continue by private transfer to Kumai Harbor. Here you board your traditional klotok and begin cruising into Tanjung Puting National Park through the Kumai and Sekonyer Rivers.
Lunch is served onboard as the boat moves deeper into the rainforest. During the afternoon cruise, keep an eye out for proboscis monkeys, macaques, tropical birds and other wildlife along the riverbanks.
In the evening, enjoy dinner onboard in a peaceful jungle setting before spending your first night on the klotok.
Camp Leakey & Orangutan Feeding
After breakfast onboard, continue deeper into the national park towards Camp Leakey. The river journey offers further opportunities to observe wildlife before reaching the famous research and conservation area.
Continue with a jungle walk through the rainforest and visit the Camp Leakey information centre to learn more about orangutans and their conservation.
After lunch and some time to relax onboard, return to the area for the afternoon orangutan feeding session. Afterwards, return to the klotok, freshen up and enjoy a relaxing downstream cruise.
Dinner is served onboard before another night surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.
Orangutans, Reforestation & Local Life
After breakfast, continue the river journey towards Pondok Tanggui for another orangutan feeding observation. The experience provides a different perspective on the rehabilitation and conservation work within the national park.
Continue to the reforestation project, where traditional medicinal plants and tree seedlings are cultivated. During the rainy season, tree planting activities may be available depending on local conditions.
After lunch and a short rest onboard, visit a local riverside village before continuing to Tanjung Harapan, one of the area's orangutan rehabilitation stations.
After the afternoon feeding observation, cruise downstream through the rainforest and enjoy your final evening onboard the klotok.
Final River Cruise & Departure
Enjoy your final breakfast onboard while cruising back towards Kumai Harbor. Take in the last views of the rainforest and river landscape before disembarking from the klotok.
Continue by private transfer towards Pangkalan Bun. If your flight schedule allows, there may be an opportunity to visit a traditional local market or enjoy a short city experience before heading to the airport.
Your Tanjung Puting wildlife expedition ends at Pangkalan Bun Airport for your onward journey.
