Ijen, Bromo & Malang

A private overland journey from the Ijen highlands through Mount Bromo and onward to Malang, with early starts and volcanic landscapes throughout.

Bali / Gilimanuk – Ketapang – Ijen

Begin the journey with the crossing from Bali to East Java via the Ketapang–Gilimanuk ferry route. Continue overland towards the Ijen area and check in at the accommodation.

The remainder of the day is kept flexible in preparation for the early departure to Ijen.

Ijen – Bromo

Start very early for the Ijen area. With a local guide, continue towards the crater area and experience the dramatic volcanic landscape before returning to the vehicle.

After the Ijen experience, continue by private vehicle towards the Bromo region. The journey takes you through changing landscapes and mountain roads before arriving at the accommodation.

Rest early in preparation for the following morning's Bromo sunrise experience.

Bromo Sunrise – Malang

Depart before dawn for the Bromo sunrise experience. Travel by 4WD Jeep into the Bromo area and continue to the designated viewpoints for the sunrise scenery.

Continue through the Bromo volcanic landscape before returning to the vehicle and travelling onward to Malang.

Arrive in Malang and conclude the journey at your hotel or agreed drop-off point.

Tumpak Sewu Waterfall

A visit to Tumpak Sewu can be arranged as an optional addition, subject to timing, weather and road conditions. Additional cost applies.

Early Starts & Mountain Terrain

This programme involves very early departures, walking on uneven volcanic terrain and changing mountain conditions. Access to Ijen and Bromo may be adjusted according to weather, volcanic activity and local safety regulations.
