From the streets of Jakarta and the heritage of Yogyakarta to the dramatic landscapes of Tumpak Sewu and Mount Bromo, the journey continues across Bali and ends with the beaches, viewpoints and marine experiences of Nusa Penida.
Culture, Nature & Island Life
Explore Jakarta's historic landmarks and old harbour, experience Yogyakarta's royal and artistic heritage, travel by train across Java, witness the power of Mount Bromo and Tumpak Sewu, and discover Bali's temples, villages, waterfalls and rice terraces. The final part of the journey combines Nusa Penida's coastal scenery and snorkeling with relaxed time in Sanur.
From Java's Heritage to Nusa Penida
The route moves naturally from west to east across Java before crossing to Bali. Along the way, you will visit Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Malang, Bromo, Kalibaru, Lovina, Ubud and Candidasa, followed by three nights on Nusa Penida and a relaxed stay in Sanur.
Your Journey, Your Pace
Several moments throughout the journey allow time to relax or explore further. Optional experiences such as the Ramayana Ballet, Balinese cooking, cycling, rafting and ATV activities can be arranged according to interest and availability.
An Active Multi-Region Journey
This is an active journey combining road travel, train journeys, ferry and fast-boat crossings, early-morning departures and walking on uneven terrain. Weather and local conditions may affect outdoor activities, boat crossings and snorkeling locations. The itinerary is designed to balance active exploration with free time throughout the journey.

Itinerary
19 Days Java, Bali & Nusa Penida
A diverse journey combining Indonesian culture, heritage, volcanic landscapes, tropical nature and island experiences from Jakarta to Bali and Nusa Penida.
Arrival in Jakarta – Transfer to Hotel
Welcome at Jakarta Airport with a name sign or Inn2Travel logo. Meet your representative and continue directly to the hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is free to rest and acclimatize after your journey.
Jakarta Heritage & Old Town
Discover some of Jakarta's historic landmarks, beginning with Monas and Pasar Baru. Continue to Sunda Kelapa Harbour to see the traditional phinisi sailing ships, then travel by local tuk-tuk towards Kota Tua. Visit Fatahillah Square and the Wayang Museum, with time for a walk or bicycle ride around the historic area. Lunch is planned at Café Batavia. An exterior photo stop at Istiqlal Mosque can also be included.
Java by Train – Jakarta to Yogyakarta
After breakfast and check-out, depart for Gambir Station at around 08:00. Board the morning train at approximately 08:50 for Yogyakarta. Enjoy changing views of Java's countryside, including rice terraces, villages, mountains, rivers and valleys. Arrive at Tugu Station and continue to Jalan Malioboro for a first taste of Yogyakarta. There is time for shopping and exploring before hotel check-in.
Royal Heritage, Batik & Prambanan
Explore the Sultan's Palace and discover Yogyakarta's traditional batik craftsmanship. Continue by becak towards Kotagede, known for its silverwork, before cycling through villages and rice fields around Prambanan. The day continues with a visit to the magnificent Prambanan Temple complex. In the evening, the Ramayana Ballet with dinner can be arranged as an optional experience.
Borobudur & Free Afternoon
Travel to the Magelang area with your guide to visit Borobudur Temple. Explore the temple complex and, subject to current access regulations, experience the upper levels of this remarkable Buddhist monument. Return to Yogyakarta after the visit and enjoy a free afternoon. An evening dinner and Ramayana Ballet experience can be arranged optionally.
Free Day in Yogyakarta
Enjoy a relaxed day at your own pace. In the evening, explore the area around Alun-Alun near the Keraton, where locals gather for snacks, drinks, music and the colourful decorated cars that are characteristic of the square.
Journey to Malang
Depart Yogyakarta after breakfast and check-out. Travel east towards Malang via the toll road, passing villages, rice fields and mountain landscapes along the way. Stop at a rest area for refreshments or lunch before continuing to Malang. Upon arrival, visit Kampung Warna Warni before checking in to the hotel.
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall & Bromo
Depart around 08:00 towards Lumajang and Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. With a local guide, explore one of East Java's most dramatic waterfalls, surrounded by a spectacular natural landscape. Continue the journey towards the Bromo area, approximately 2.5 hours away. After lunch and a short rest or photo stop, continue to your accommodation and prepare for the early start the following morning.
Mount Bromo Sunrise Experience
Start around 02:30 with a 4WD jeep journey towards the Bromo sunrise viewpoint. After sunrise, continue across the volcanic sand plain towards Mount Bromo crater, which can be reached on foot or by horseback. Return to the accommodation for breakfast and time to freshen up before checking out. Continue towards Kalibaru for a more relaxed afternoon.
Plantation Life & North Bali
After breakfast and check-out, visit small local plantations where coffee, cocoa and herbs are cultivated. Continue to Ketapang and cross the Bali Strait by ferry to Gilimanuk. From here, travel along Bali's northern coast through rice fields and coastal landscapes towards Lovina. Check in at the hotel and enjoy free time.
Waterfalls, Temples & Rice Terraces
Travel from Lovina towards Ubud, stopping first at Banyumala Twin Waterfall for a short walk through the surrounding landscape. Continue to Ulun Danu Beratan Temple before heading south through the highlands. Visit the Jatiluwih rice terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and continue to Ubud for hotel check-in.
Ubud Culture & Free Time
Enjoy a free day in Ubud. Explore Ubud Palace, the Monkey Forest and the local art market, or simply take time to relax. Optional activities can include a Balinese cooking class, cycling, Ayung River rafting or an ATV adventure.
East Bali Heritage & Temples
Depart Ubud around 09:00 and travel through eastern Bali. Visit Kertha Gosa, Goa Lawah Temple, the traditional Bali Aga village of Tenganan and Tirta Gangga Water Palace. Continue to Lempuyang Temple before arriving in Candidasa for the evening.
Fast Boat to Nusa Penida
After breakfast, depart around 09:00 for Padang Bai. Board the fast boat at approximately 11:00 for the journey to Nusa Penida. Upon arrival, meet the local representative and continue to the hotel. The remainder of the day is free to relax or explore the island at your own pace.
Snorkeling & West Nusa Penida
Enjoy a morning snorkeling experience around Nusa Penida, with possible stops at Manta Bay, Gamat Bay and Crystal Bay depending on sea and local conditions. After lunch, explore the island's dramatic western coastline, including Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach and Angel's Billabong.
East Nusa Penida
Explore the eastern side of Nusa Penida, visiting Atuh Beach, Diamond Beach, Rumah Pohon and Teletubbies Hill. Enjoy the island's spectacular coastal viewpoints and rolling inland landscapes before returning to your accommodation.
Return to Bali
After breakfast and check-out, transfer to the harbour for the fast boat to Sanur, scheduled at approximately 13:45. The crossing normally takes around 45–60 minutes, depending on sea conditions. Upon arrival in Sanur, transfer to the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
Relaxed Day in Sanur
Enjoy a free day in Sanur. Relax on the beach, walk along the waterfront boulevard or explore the area independently. Kayaking, bicycle rental and other activities can be arranged optionally.
Sanur – Denpasar Airport
After breakfast and check-out, transfer to Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar at the agreed departure time for your onward flight home.
