Early starts and quiet walks allow more time to listen for bird calls and search the forest canopy, undergrowth and surrounding habitats. Sightings depend naturally on weather, season and wildlife activity.
Active & Close to Nature
This is an active outdoor experience involving jungle trekking and camping. Guests should be comfortable walking on natural terrain and staying in relatively simple conditions away from the city.
Wildlife & Camping Conditions
Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. The programme takes place outdoors and may involve early mornings, walking on uneven forest trails, insects, humidity and changing weather conditions. Suitable trekking shoes and lightweight outdoor clothing are recommended.

Itinerary
Into the Ujung Kulon Rainforest
Your expedition begins with an early private departure from Jakarta towards the western tip of Java and the Ujung Kulon National Park area. After breakfast and coffee at a local restaurant, continue towards Mt. Honje, where the first birdwatching session begins with a local birding guide. The forest trails offer opportunities to look for babblers, Javan Owlet, Orange-breasted Trogon, Broadbills, Crimson Sunbird, Black-banded Barbet, Javan Yellow-throated Hanging Parrot, Black-winged Flycatcher-shrike, Blyth's Paradise Flycatcher, spiderhunters, Black Monarchs and kingfishers. By late afternoon, settle into the jungle campsite and enjoy dinner in the quiet rainforest surroundings.
Full-Day Birding & Night Birding
Start early, when the rainforest is most active, with a focused search for endemic and tropical bird species around the base-camp area. Depending on conditions, the morning may offer opportunities to encounter White-breasted Babbler, Grey-cheeked Tit-Babbler, Chestnut-capped Babbler, Crescent-chested Babbler, Black-banded Barbet, Javan Sunbird, Javan Banded Pitta and Javan Kingfisher. After lunch and a short rest, continue with an afternoon walk focused on sunbirds and spiderhunters. After dinner, an optional night-birding session provides the opportunity to search for nocturnal species including owls, nightjars and Javan Frogmouth.
Final Birding Session & Return to Jakarta
After an early breakfast, begin the trek back towards the border area with a final birdwatching session around Legon Pakis. The area provides opportunities to search for kingfishers, tit-babblers, woodpeckers, bulbuls, drongos, cuckoos, malkohas, Woolly-necked Stork, Blyth's Paradise Flycatcher, Fulvous-chested Jungle Flycatcher and flowerpeckers. After lunch near the park area, continue the overland journey back to Jakarta. The expedition concludes with drop-off at your Jakarta hotel or airport.
