Discover Traditional Flores
The Bajawa highlands are home to the Ngada people, whose traditional
villages, ancestral houses and ceremonial spaces form an important
part of the cultural landscape of Flores. The journey provides an
opportunity to experience this heritage through visits to selected
traditional villages and interaction with the local environment.
A Volcanic Landscape at Sunrise
The journey continues towards Kelimutu, famous for its three
differently coloured volcanic crater lakes. An early-morning visit
provides the opportunity to experience the dramatic landscape in the
cooler and quieter hours of the day before continuing towards Ende.
From the Highlands to Ende
Rather than simply connecting two towns, this itinerary is designed
as a journey through the cultural and natural landscapes of Flores.
The route allows travellers to experience the highlands around
Bajawa before gradually continuing towards Kelimutu and Ende.

Bajawa – Ende
A private journey through the cultural highlands of Flores, traditional
Ngada villages and the volcanic landscape of Kelimutu, ending in Ende.
Bajawa & Ngada Cultural Heritage
Begin your journey in the Bajawa highlands, one of the most culturally
distinctive areas of Flores. Travel through the surrounding countryside
and discover the traditional way of life of the Ngada people.
Visit selected traditional Ngada villages, where ancestral houses,
ceremonial spaces and traditional village layouts provide an insight
into the cultural heritage of the region.
Take time to explore the village environment, meet local communities
where possible and enjoy the surrounding highland scenery before
returning to your accommodation in Bajawa.

Bajawa → Central Flores → Kelimutu Area
After breakfast, continue the journey eastwards from Bajawa towards
the Kelimutu area. The route passes through the changing landscapes
of central Flores, with mountain scenery, agricultural areas and
traditional settlements along the way.
Enjoy selected stops along the journey for photography, local
scenery and refreshments, depending on the day's driving conditions
and schedule.
Arrive in the Kelimutu area and settle into your accommodation.
The remainder of the day is kept relatively relaxed in preparation
for the early-morning visit to Kelimutu.

Kelimutu → Ende
Rise early and travel towards Kelimutu National Park for a morning
visit to the famous three-coloured volcanic crater lakes. Enjoy the
dramatic volcanic landscape and changing colours of the lakes as
morning light reaches the crater.
After the Kelimutu experience, return to the accommodation area for
breakfast and some time to refresh before continuing towards Ende.
Continue by private vehicle to Ende, travelling through the scenic
landscapes of central Flores. The journey ends upon arrival in Ende,
with onward arrangements available according to your travel plans.
