Description
Javan Rhino Expedition 10D/9N is a private tour to see Javan Rhinos in their habitat. Experience the wildlife in Ujung Kulon National Park, canoeing around the river to look for rhino and trekking in the tropical forest. It historically inhabited dense lowland rainforest, wet grasslands, and vast floodplains at forest-edges. It is mostly solitary, except for courtship and rearing offspring, though groups may occasionally congregate near wallows and salt licks.

The Javan rhinoceros recolonized the peninsula after the event, but humans never returned in large numbers, thus creating a haven for wildlife. Although the rhinos in Ujung Kulon have no natural predators, they have to compete for scarce resources with wild cattle, which may keep their numbers below the peninsula’s carrying capacity. The park area has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for containing the largest remaining area of lowland rainforests in Java and also for possessing the most threatened species of rhino, the Javan rhino.
