Sumatra 8D/7N is a private tour where you can get the best nature experience in Sumatra. You will be amazed by its nature, animal, beautiful scenery, and also the river. It will be the best experience for you to see elephants and orang utan in their habitat. Bukit Lawang has thick virgin forests, lush vegetation, rice fields, mountain streams, rivers, waterfalls and it has a rich flora and fauna.
Sumatra has a wide range of plant and animal species but has lost almost 50% of its tropical rainforest in the last 35 years. Many species are now critically endangered, such as the Sumatran ground cuckoo, the Sumatran tiger, the Sumatran elephant, the Sumatran rhinoceros, and the Sumatran Orang Utan.
Day 1. Arrival Medan
Upon arrival at Kualanamu Airport in Medan, you will meet your private driver who will guide you through your journey in Sumatra. Then, you will transfer to the hotel for check-in and the rest of the day is at your leisure.
Day 2. Medan – Tangkahan
Today we leave at 8:00 am to Tangkahan. Upon arrival in Tangkahan, you can have lunch at a local eatery. However, after lunch you will make a trek of about 2 hours through the jungle with an elephant under the guidance of a local guide. Then at 3:30 pm you will watch the Sumatran elephants bathe in the river and of course you can lend a hand with washing and scrubbing. Furthermore, from the elephant camp you will transfer to the accommodation.
Day 3. Tangkahan – Bukit Lawang
After breakfast, the guide will pick you up and go to the starting point for tubing on the Buluh River. While tubing we will make a stop at Buluh River Estuary where you will visit the Garut waterfall and hotspring. Furthermore, we continue tubing until Salak Beach Estuary where we can enjoy a picnic lunch. Then the journey continues by jeep to Bukit Lawang. However, along the way we stop at various locations to enjoy the view and take a look at the villages about their daily activities. Furthermore, after jeep safari about 2.5 hours through the wilderness and bumpy dirt roads, we arrive in Bukit Lawang around 5:00 pm.
Day 4. Bukit Lawang
At 8:00 am. take a village tour of approximately 3 hours by tuk-tuk, the best and most fun way to get to know the local life and the surroundings of Bukit Lawang. Meanwhile, during this trip you will stop at beautiful locations, at rice fields and various plantations. Then you will visit local villages where you can watch how they make brown sugar, Tahu and Tempe. After the tuktuk tour, you will go to an eatery stall for lunch. After lunch, you will visit the Batcave. However, here you will go on an exploration of bats in the cave. After visiting the cave, you will go back to the accommodation.
Day 5. Bukit Lawang – Leuser National Park
At 9:00 am. you will be picked up by the local guide from Leuser National Park to start the jungle trekking. You will hike through the very dense jungle full of indigenous flora and fauna of the Leuser rainforest. During the trip, the guide will tell you about the forest inhabitants such as mammals, amphibians, reptiles, insects, butterflies, etc. Enjoy the fresh water of the beautiful Bahorok River. Meanwhile, you can also admire beautiful butterflies.
However, Orangutans and large birds such as the hornbill (Rangkok Gading) are often seen in the park. Lunch will be prepared by your guide, nasi goreng and fruit from the local market are on the menu. Then around 4 p.m. you will reach the destination where you will spend the night. You can relax, drink coffee or tea and swim in the river. Moreover, during dinner you can enjoy the cooked meals on the campfire and after dinner you can play various games and other types of activities. Then you will spend the night in a tent made of bamboo and plastic sheeting. An overnight in the jungle is a special experience, under a sky full of stars and surrounded by different animal sounds.
Day 6. Leuser National Park – Bukit Lawang
In the morning you wake up to the sound of the monkeys and start the day with a cup of coffee or tea. However, this is followed by breakfast and the trip continues for about a few more hours. Meanwhile, on the way we make a stop at the beautiful waterfall and after a delicious lunch you will go back to Bukit Lawang by traditional tube rafting over the white waters of the river. Then you will go back to the accommodation and the rest of the day is free.
Day 7. Bukit Lawang – Medan
After breakfast and check-out at the accommodation, we drive back to Medan. However, along the way we will make several stops to have lunch, stretch your legs and take pictures of the beautiful scenery. Upon arrival in Medan, you will be transferred to the hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free.
Day 8. Departure from Medan
At the desired time, you will be picked up and transfer to Kualanamu Airport to return home or continue the journey to another island. End of Tour.
