2D/1N Jeep Sukamade
Sukamade Jeep Safari
Venture deep into the remote southern coast of East Java on a private
4WD adventure to Sukamade Turtle Beach, one of the important sea turtle
nesting areas within Meru Betiri National Park.
This two-day adventure combines rugged jungle roads, river crossings,
plantations, coastal landscapes and a guided night-time turtle
observation, offering a very different side of Java away from the
island's better-known tourist routes.
Start Your Adventure Your Way
Sukamade can be incorporated into different Java and Bali travel
itineraries. Depending on your route, the private journey can be
arranged to start from Kalibaru, Banyuwangi or Bali.

Transfer arrangements from Bali or other locations are quoted according

The Road to Sukamade
Reaching Sukamade is part of the adventure. The journey takes
approximately four to six hours through peaceful villages and
plantations of rubber, coffee and cocoa before entering the more
rugged landscape around Meru Betiri National Park.
Along the route, you may experience the scenic surroundings of
Rajekwesi Beach and Green Bay, followed by river crossings and
challenging 4WD terrain on the way to Sukamade.
A Night on Sukamade Beach
After arriving at Sukamade and settling into your local guesthouse,
join a guided night excursion to the beach. The observation normally
takes place in the evening, when sea turtles may come ashore from the
ocean to find a suitable place to lay their eggs.
Turtle sightings are naturally dependent on wildlife activity and
conditions on the night of your visit and therefore cannot be
guaranteed.
Beyond the Nesting Beach
Sukamade also has a turtle hatchery where successfully hatched turtles
are released back into the sea. When conditions and operations allow,
the programme provides an opportunity to learn more about local turtle
conservation and the journey from nesting beach to sea.
Plantation & Village Life
The experience also connects you with the agricultural landscape of
the area, including plantation scenery and traditional coconut sugar
processing. It adds a local and cultural dimension to what is otherwise
a rugged wildlife adventure.
