One of the defining experiences of this journey is the trek to Wae
Rebo, a remote traditional village surrounded by the mountains of
Flores. The approximately 3.5-hour trek takes you through forested
hills and remote countryside before reaching the village.
Upon arrival, experience the traditional welcome ceremony before
spending the evening in the village and experiencing its peaceful
mountain atmosphere.
Beyond the Main Tourist Routes
Along the route, discover different aspects of Flores life and
tradition, from the agricultural landscape around Cancar and the
traditional communities of Wae Rebo to the palm wine production
traditions of Aimere and the ancestral villages around Bajawa.

forests and waterfalls give way to highland farmland, volcanic

Labuan Bajo – Bajawa
A private overland journey from Labuan Bajo through the cultural and
natural landscapes of western and central Flores, ending in Bajawa.
Labuan Bajo → Cunca Wulang → Ruteng
Begin your Flores overland journey from Labuan Bajo and travel
inland towards the highlands of Manggarai.
Continue to Cunca Wulang Waterfall, surrounded by tropical forest and
dramatic rock formations. Enjoy the natural surroundings and time to
explore the area before continuing the journey.
Continue towards Ruteng, travelling through changing landscapes and
rural communities. The journey provides an opportunity to appreciate
the transition from the coastal environment around Labuan Bajo to the
cooler Flores highlands.
Arrive in Ruteng and check in to your accommodation for the evening.

Ruteng → Spiderweb Rice Fields → Wae Rebo
After breakfast, continue your journey through the Manggarai
countryside towards the famous Spiderweb Rice Fields. Stop at the
viewpoint to appreciate the distinctive agricultural landscape and
traditional land patterns of the region.
Continue towards the starting point of the trek to Wae Rebo. From
here, begin the approximately 3.5-hour walk through forested hills
and remote countryside towards the traditional village.
Upon arrival at Wae Rebo, participate in the traditional welcome
ceremony before settling into the village and experiencing its
unique mountain environment.
Spend the night in the traditional village and enjoy the quiet
atmosphere of Wae Rebo after the day's trek.

Wae Rebo → Aimere → Ranamese → Bajawa
After breakfast in Wae Rebo, begin the trek back through the
surrounding forest and countryside before continuing by vehicle
towards the eastern highlands.
Continue to Aimere, an area known for its traditional palm wine
production. Discover this distinctive aspect of local culture and
observe how the drink is traditionally produced.
Continue through the highlands towards Ranamese Lake, surrounded by
forest and mountain scenery. Enjoy time at the viewpoint before
continuing towards Bajawa.
Arrive in Bajawa and check in to your accommodation. The evening is
free to relax after the day's journey.

Bajawa → Mount Inerie → Malanage → Bena → Luba
After breakfast, continue exploring the cultural and natural
highlights around Bajawa and the Ngada highlands.
Enjoy views towards Mount Inerie, one of the most impressive volcanic
landmarks in the region, before continuing towards Malanage Hot
Spring. Depending on local conditions, enjoy time to relax in the
natural surroundings.
Continue to Bena Village, one of the best-known traditional Ngada
villages, where ancestral houses, ceremonial structures and the
surrounding volcanic landscape reveal the cultural heritage of the
region.
Continue to Luba Village for another perspective on traditional Ngada
culture and village life.
After the final village visit, continue according to your onward
travel arrangements. The programme ends in the Bajawa area.

approximately 3.5 hours, depending on individual pace and trail
