Itinerary
Sumba Island Hidden Paradise Adventure
A seven-day private journey across West and East Sumba, combining traditional villages, beaches, waterfalls, savannah landscapes and distinctive Sumbanese culture.
Traditional Village & Coastal Sunset
Arrive at Tambolaka Airport and meet your local team. Begin the journey with a visit to Manola Traditional Village, located on a hill and known for its traditional culture and local wisdom. Continue for lunch before checking in at the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Sumba Cultural Museum to discover local artefacts, carvings and traditional textiles. End the day at Mananga Aba Beach and enjoy the coastal landscape until sunset.
Lagoon, Traditional Villages & Coastal Landscapes
After breakfast, visit Weekuri Lagoon and enjoy its clear turquoise water. Continue to Mandorak Beach, a small white-sand beach framed by dramatic cliffs. Visit Ratenggaro Traditional Village to experience Sumbanese architecture and local life before continuing to Pero Beach for sunset. Return to Tambolaka for dinner.
Across the Island
After breakfast and check-out, begin the overland journey towards East Sumba. Travel through the island's changing landscapes, with opportunities to stop along the route and experience rural Sumba. Enjoy lunch around Waikabubak before continuing towards Waingapu. Arrive in the evening, have dinner and check in at the hotel.
Waimarang Waterfall & Ancient Villages
Explore Waimarang Waterfall, hidden between high cliffs and featuring a striking turquoise natural pool. Continue to Praiyawang Traditional Village, where traditional houses and megalithic tombs reveal the island's ancestral heritage. Later visit Walakiri Beach and its distinctive coastal landscape before returning to Waingapu.
Tanggedu Waterfall & Savannah
Travel to Tanggedu Waterfall, known for its dramatic rock formations and natural pools. Continue towards Puru Kambera Beach, where wide white sands meet open savannah and free-roaming horses. End the day at Prailiu Village, an important centre of traditional Sumbanese ikat weaving, before returning to Waingapu.
East Sumba at a Slower Pace
Enjoy a more flexible day in East Sumba. Depending on local conditions and your interests, explore additional village areas, local markets, coastal scenery or spend time relaxing around the hotel. This additional day provides flexibility after several days of overland exploration.
Farewell to Sumba
After breakfast and check-out, transfer to Waingapu Airport for your onward flight. End of your Sumba Island journey.
