From Java's Volcanoes to Its Ancient Temples
The journey connects two very different sides of Java. In the east, discover the powerful volcanic landscapes of Ijen and Mount Bromo, followed by a journey towards Central Java and the cultural heart of Yogyakarta.
The route can be operated in either direction, allowing traveller's to begin in the east and finish in Yogyakarta, or start from Yogyakarta and continue east towards Banyuwangi or Bali.

Choose Your Starting Point
Depending on the selected departure, travellers may join the journey from Bali, Banyuwangi, Malang, Surabaya or Yogyakarta. The route can operate from east to west or west to east, with the confirmed meeting point, direction and final drop-off provided before departure.
An Active Journey Through Java
This is an active adventure involving early-morning departures, volcanic trekking, long-distance overland travel and cultural sightseeing. A reasonable level of physical fitness is recommended, and travellers should be prepared for an intensive but rewarding journey.

Itinerary
Java Volcano & Heritage Open Trip
A four-day journey connecting Java's volcanic landscapes with its cultural heritage, combining Ijen Crater, Mount Bromo, Borobudur and Prambanan.
The journey can operate in either direction depending on the selected departure, allowing travellers to travel from East Java towards Yogyakarta or from Yogyakarta towards Banyuwangi and Bali.
Bali / Banyuwangi → Ijen → Bromo → Yogyakarta
This direction is ideal for travellers arriving from Bali or already travelling through East Java. The journey begins with Ijen, continues to Mount Bromo and concludes with the cultural heritage of Yogyakarta.
Arrival in East Java & Preparation for Ijen
Depending on the selected starting point, meet the group and trip team in Bali or Banyuwangi before continuing towards the Ijen area. Travellers arriving from Bali cross the Bali Strait by ferry before continuing overland into East Java.
Arrive at the accommodation, check in and enjoy time to rest. The evening is kept relaxed because the following morning begins with an early Ijen experience.
Receive a short briefing from the local team and prepare your personal equipment for the early-morning trek.
Ijen Area
Ijen Crater & Transfer to Bromo
Begin the day with an early transfer to the Ijen base area and start the guided trek towards the crater. Depending on weather, volcanic activity and local regulations, travellers may have the opportunity to experience the famous Blue Fire phenomenon.
Continue towards the crater rim to experience the dramatic volcanic landscape and turquoise acidic lake as daylight arrives. After descending, return to the base area for breakfast and refreshment.
Continue overland towards the Bromo area, passing plantations, villages and changing mountain landscapes. Arrive at the accommodation and rest early in preparation for the following morning's sunrise.
Bromo Area
Bromo Sunrise & Journey to Yogyakarta
Wake before dawn and travel by 4WD jeep to the Bromo sunrise viewpoint. Watch the first light illuminate Mount Bromo, Mount Batok and the vast Tengger Caldera.
Continue through the Sea of Sand towards Mount Bromo crater for a closer look at the volcanic landscape. Return to the accommodation for breakfast and refreshment before checking out.
Continue by road towards Yogyakarta. The journey crosses Central Java's changing landscapes and traditional rural areas before arriving in Yogyakarta in the evening.
Yogyakarta
Borobudur, Prambanan & End of Journey
Begin the final day with a visit to Borobudur Temple, one of Indonesia's most important cultural and architectural landmarks. Explore the temple complex and surrounding landscape before continuing with the day's heritage experience.
Continue to Prambanan Temple, the magnificent Hindu temple complex known for its impressive architecture and historical significance. Together, Borobudur and Prambanan provide a remarkable introduction to Java's rich Buddhist and Hindu heritage.
After the temple visits, continue to your final drop-off point in Yogyakarta. End of the open trip and continue your onward journey.
Yogyakarta → Bromo → Ijen → Banyuwangi / Bali
The same journey can be operated in the opposite direction for travellers beginning in Yogyakarta. Start with Java's cultural heritage before travelling east towards Mount Bromo and Ijen.
The sequence is reversed while maintaining the same core experiences: Borobudur and Prambanan, Bromo sunrise and Ijen Crater. The journey can conclude in Banyuwangi or continue towards Bali according to the selected departure arrangement.

Bali to Ijen Transfer
Travellers starting from Bali can arrange a private transfer from selected areas including Kuta, Sanur, Ubud, Lovina or Gilimanuk Harbour.
The transfer is provided by a small vehicle such as an Avanza or Innova, or an equivalent vehicle. The service includes the ferry crossing from Gilimanuk Harbour to Ketapang Harbour.
Upon arrival at Ketapang Harbour, the Inn2Travel team will meet the traveller's and continue the journey by vehicle to the selected accommodation in the Ijen area.

The standard open-trip rate applies to the confirmed meeting point and route stated for each departure. Starting points may include Bali, Banyuwangi, Malang, Surabaya or Yogyakarta. Any applicable transfer supplement will be confirmed before booking.
Small Group Open Trip
The published rate is based on a shared open-trip arrangement. Places are subject to availability and confirmed departure schedules. The maximum group size is limited to 10 travellers.

Kampung Joglo Ijen
Stay in the Ijen area before the early-morning crater experience. Kampung Joglo Ijen provides a practical overnight base for the Ijen section of the journey and allows the group to prepare for the early start.
Gubug Ndeso Bromo or Lava Hills
Stay in the Bromo area after the Ijen experience and before the early-morning Bromo sunrise. Accommodation will be arranged at Gubug Ndeso Bromo or Lava Hills, subject to availability at the time of booking.
Java Villas Boutique Hotel & Resto
Stay in Yogyakarta at Java Villas Boutique Hotel & Resto, located in the Prawirotaman area. The hotel combines Javanese and colonial-inspired character with comfortable rooms and convenient access to the city's restaurants, cafés and cultural attractions.
