Waterfalls, Volcanoes & Sunrise
Begin around Malang with the option to explore Tumpak Sewu Waterfall before continuing to the Bromo area. Experience the iconic Bromo sunrise by 4WD jeep, cross the vast Sea of Sand and explore the volcanic crater. The journey then continues east to Ijen for a challenging night trek and the possibility of witnessing its famous Blue Fire.
From Malang to Banyuwangi
Travel progressively east through the volcanic landscapes of East Java, from Malang and Tumpak Sewu to Mount Bromo and finally Ijen. After the Ijen experience, continue towards Banyuwangi or Ketapang, making this journey a practical connection for travellers continuing to Bali.

The journey can be arranged according to your preferred starting point and onward travel plans. Tumpak Sewu can be included as an optional experience, while the final drop-off can be arranged in Banyuwangi, Ketapang or another agreed location.
An Intense Adventure
This is an active and physically demanding journey involving very early departures, night trekking, steep and uneven terrain, volcanic environments and limited rest between activities. The Blue Fire experience at Ijen is subject to volcanic activity, weather, safety regulations and local conditions.

Itinerary
Malang, Bromo & Ijen Volcano Adventure
A three-day journey through the volcanic landscapes of East Java, combining Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, Mount Bromo sunrise and the Ijen Crater experience.
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall & Transfer to Bromo
Begin your journey in Malang and travel south through scenic countryside, villages and plantations towards Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. If included in your programme, explore the waterfall area with a local guide and enjoy the dramatic views of the cascading falls and surrounding valley. The trek involves forest paths, stairs and uneven terrain.
After the exploration, continue towards the Bromo area. Check in at your accommodation and enjoy the evening at leisure before an early start for the following morning's sunrise experience.
Bromo Sunrise & Journey to Ijen
Start before dawn with a 4WD jeep journey to a Bromo sunrise viewpoint. Watch the landscape gradually appear across the Tengger caldera, with Mount Bromo and Mount Batok forming the dramatic volcanic backdrop.
Continue into the Sea of Sand and towards Mount Bromo crater. Explore the area on foot or, if preferred, by horseback at your own expense. Return to the accommodation for breakfast and time to freshen up before checking out.
Continue east by private vehicle towards the Ijen area, passing rural landscapes and plantations along the way. Arrive at your accommodation, check in and rest early in preparation for the night trek.
Ijen Crater & Blue Fire Experience
Start around midnight and transfer to the Ijen trekking starting point at Paltuding. Begin the hike in the darkness with a local guide, following the trail towards the crater rim.
Subject to volcanic activity, safety regulations and local conditions, continue towards the crater area to look for the rare Blue Fire phenomenon. As dawn approaches, enjoy views of the turquoise crater lake and the surrounding volcanic landscape. You may also encounter local sulfur miners working in the crater area.
Return to the base after the trek and continue to your accommodation for breakfast and check-out. The journey ends with a transfer towards Banyuwangi or Ketapang, according to your onward travel arrangements.

This itinerary involves very early departures, night trekking and uneven volcanic terrain. The Blue Fire experience is not guaranteed and may be restricted or unavailable due to volcanic activity, weather, air quality, safety regulations or local authorities. Tumpak Sewu access may also vary according to weather and trail conditions.
