Javan Rhino Expedition

A proposed 10-day specialist wildlife expedition into the landscapes
surrounding Ujung Kulon, designed around rainforest exploration,
wilderness trekking, camping and the study of one of Indonesia's most
endangered mammals.

This Is a Future Expedition

The itinerary below represents the expedition concept and historical
programme structure. It is not currently available for booking.

Any future operation will be reviewed and adapted according to official
access regulations, conservation requirements, approved routes,
permitted camping areas and wildlife protection measures in force at
the time of reopening.

Jakarta → Ujung Kulon

Your expedition begins with an early departure from Jakarta and a
journey towards the westernmost part of Java. As the urban landscape
gradually gives way to rural scenery, the expedition moves closer to
the wilderness of Ujung Kulon.

Upon arrival in the Ujung Kulon area, meet the expedition team and
prepare for the days ahead. A briefing introduces the expedition,
conservation principles, safety procedures and the importance of
minimising disturbance to wildlife.

Continue to the designated overnight area and settle into the
expedition camp or approved accommodation, depending on the
operational arrangements in place.

Into the Rainforest

Begin the expedition with a guided trek into the rainforest. The pace
is deliberately measured, allowing the group to become familiar with
the forest environment and its natural sounds.

Follow approved trails through dense vegetation while learning about
the ecology of the forest and the importance of this habitat for
wildlife.

Continue deeper into the designated expedition area before returning
to camp for the evening.

Deep Wildlife Exploration

Rise early when the forest is most active and begin another guided
wildlife exploration. The morning is dedicated to observing signs of
wildlife activity and understanding the natural rhythm of the forest.

The expedition team continues along approved routes, interpreting
tracks, vegetation and other signs encountered along the way.

Return to camp later in the day for rest, discussion and preparation
for the next stage of the expedition.

Into the Wilderness

Today takes the expedition further into the wilderness. Following
approved trails, the team spends extended hours in the forest,
focusing on habitat interpretation and wildlife signs.

The experience is less about covering distance and more about
understanding the environment and moving through the forest without
disturbing its natural inhabitants.

Return to the designated camp area for the evening.

Wildlife Tracking

Continue the wildlife expedition with another early start and guided
exploration of the designated forest area.

The focus remains on understanding the habitat of the Javan rhinoceros
and the wider ecosystem that supports it, rather than actively pursuing
or disturbing individual animals.

Spend the evening at camp reviewing observations and learning more
about the conservation challenges facing Ujung Kulon.

Conservation & Wilderness

Spend another day within the approved expedition area, combining
wilderness trekking with a deeper understanding of the habitat and
conservation work surrounding the Javan rhinoceros.

Depending on future operational arrangements, the expedition team may
introduce field-based conservation information or observations
appropriate to the regulations at the time.

Evening return to camp and final night of the deeper wilderness phase.

Final Wildlife Exploration

Make a final early-morning exploration of the approved forest area.
This is an opportunity to reflect on the previous days and consolidate
observations made during the expedition.

Rather than guaranteeing a wildlife encounter, the expedition focuses
on patience, responsible observation and an appreciation of the
ecological importance of the habitat.

Return to camp and prepare for the transition out of the wilderness.

Wilderness → Coastal Landscape

Break camp and begin the journey out of the deeper wilderness area.
Continue through the changing landscapes of Ujung Kulon as the
expedition gradually transitions from rainforest exploration to the
more accessible areas of the park.

Use the remainder of the day to rest, recover and review the
expedition experience.

Ujung Kulon → Jakarta

After breakfast, begin the journey out of the Ujung Kulon area and
return towards Jakarta.

The return journey provides time to reflect on the expedition,
the extraordinary ecosystem encountered and the conservation
challenges surrounding the Javan rhinoceros.

Departure

Enjoy your final morning in Jakarta before continuing to the airport
or your next destination. Your Javan Rhino Expedition concludes with
a deeper appreciation of one of Indonesia's most important wildlife
conservation landscapes.

A Journey Built Around Wildlife & Wilderness

No Wildlife Encounter Is Guaranteed

The Javan rhinoceros is extremely rare and highly protected. Any
future wildlife observation will be conducted according to the
instructions and restrictions of the relevant conservation authorities.

The expedition does not guarantee a sighting. The objective is to
experience and understand the ecosystem responsibly while minimising
disturbance to wildlife.

This itinerary is a future expedition framework. Routes, access,
camping locations, activities, accommodation, transportation and
expedition duration may be modified to comply with official
conservation and park regulations at the time of operation.
