The Experience
Travel from Yogyakarta towards East Java and experience some of Java’s most memorable volcanic landscapes. Discover Madakaripura Waterfall, continue to Mount Bromo for the sunrise experience from Kingkong viewpoint, and explore the dramatic crater landscape before travelling onward to Banyuwangi and Ijen.
At Ijen, the journey continues with a night trek to experience the blue fire phenomenon, followed by views of the crater lake around sunrise. This is an intensive adventure and is suitable for travellers with a reasonable to good level of physical condition.

Itinerary
Yogyakarta – Bromo – Ijen Journey
Follow the journey from Yogyakarta through Madakaripura and Mount Bromo before continuing to Banyuwangi and Ijen Crater.
Yogyakarta – Madakaripura Waterfall – Bromo
Pick up between 08.00 and 08.30 in the morning at your accommodation in Yogyakarta. Continue towards the parking area near Madakaripura Waterfall. From the parking area, continue by motorcycle to the entrance of the waterfall, followed by a short walk to reach the waterfall.
After spending time at Madakaripura Waterfall, return to the minivan and continue towards the hotel in Sukapura. After check-in, the evening is reserved for dinner and rest.
Bromo Sunrise – Bromo Crater – Banyuwangi
Pick up from the accommodation by jeep at 03.00 a.m. and continue to Kingkong viewpoint, one of the locations used to experience sunrise at Bromo. After sunrise, continue to Mount Bromo and explore the enormous crater on foot or by horse.
Return to the accommodation for breakfast before continuing by minivan towards Banyuwangi. Several stops are made during the journey for lunch and rest. Arrive at the accommodation in Licin for check-in.
Ijen Blue Fire – Ijen Crater – Ketapang – Bali
Pick up by jeep at midnight at 01.00 a.m. to begin the night tour to Ijen. From the crater rim, continue with a local guide towards the crater, where you can witness the blue fire phenomenon.
Continue to enjoy the blue-coloured lake during and after sunrise before walking back to the jeep. Return to the accommodation for breakfast and check-out, then continue to Ketapang Harbor. The ferry crossing to Gilimanuk takes approximately one hour, with estimated arrival at Gilimanuk Harbor at 12.00 p.m.
