Your Multi-Day Adventure
Begin your journey in Malang and head towards the spectacular Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, known as one of Indonesia’s most beautiful cascades. Continue to Mount Bromo for a sunrise experience across its vast volcanic terrain. The journey concludes at Ijen Crater, where you’ll witness the unique blue fire phenomenon before descending to Banyuwangi. Itinerary
Day 1 — Malang Arrival, Tumpak Sewu Waterfall & Transfer to Bromo Area
Your journey begins with arrival in Malang, where you will be greeted by your team before heading toward one of East Java’s most spectacular natural wonders, Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. The drive takes you through scenic rural landscapes, gradually revealing lush valleys and volcanic terrain. Upon arrival, begin a soft trek down to the viewpoint and, if conditions allow, descend closer to the base of the waterfall where cascading streams form a dramatic curtain of water. Take your time to enjoy the atmosphere, capture photos, and immerse yourself in this hidden paradise. After the exploration, continue your journey toward the Bromo area, passing mountain roads and local villages. Arrive at your accommodation near Mount Bromo, check in, and rest early in preparation for the sunrise experience.
Day 2 — Bromo Sunrise Experience & Transfer to Ijen
Depart early in the morning for the iconic Mount Bromo sunrise experience. Travel by 4WD jeep to the viewpoint, where you will witness the sun rising over the vast Tengger caldera, illuminating Mount Bromo and its surrounding volcanic landscape. After sunrise, descend into the sea of sand and walk toward the crater of Mount Bromo for a closer look at this active volcano. Return to your accommodation for breakfast before continuing the journey to the Ijen area. The overland transfer offers changing scenery, from highlands to plantations and coastal views. Arrive in the Ijen region in the late afternoon or evening, check in to your hotel, and rest early in preparation for the midnight hike.
Day 3 — Ijen Blue Fire Trek & Return Journey
Start your day around midnight as you head to Mount Ijen for a guided trek to witness the rare blue fire phenomenon. Hike up under the stars, reaching the crater rim before descending carefully to observe the natural blue flames created by ignited sulfuric gases. As dawn approaches, enjoy the stunning turquoise crater lake and the surrounding volcanic scenery. After the trek, return to the base and head back to your accommodation for breakfast and a short rest. Check out and continue your return journey to your next destination, such as Banyuwangi, Surabaya, or Malang, marking the end of an intense yet unforgettable East Java adventure.
