Three Days Across East Java
Begin in Malang and travel south towards Tumpak Sewu, one of East Java's most spectacular waterfalls. Continue through rural landscapes and mountain roads towards the Bromo area for an unforgettable sunrise experience.
The journey then continues east towards Banyuwangi and the Ijen highlands. After an overnight stay, begin the early-morning Ijen trek and discover its dramatic crater landscape before continuing towards Ketapang and Bali.

This open trip is designed for travellers who enjoy discovering Indonesia together with a small group. Shared transportation, local guides and selected accommodation provide an efficient and comfortable way to explore East Java without arranging a completely private journey.
From Malang to Bali
The standard journey starts in Malang and continues through Tumpak Sewu, Bromo and Ijen before crossing the Bali Strait. The tour ends at Gilimanuk Harbour, allowing travellers to continue their journey through Bali independently or arrange a separate onward transfer.
An Active East Java Adventure
This is an active journey involving trekking, early-morning departures, late-night travel and long-distance road transfers. A reasonable to good level of physical fitness is recommended, particularly for the Tumpak Sewu and Ijen sections.
The sequence of activities may be adjusted according to weather, volcanic activity, road conditions, local regulations and the final travel schedule.

Itinerary
Malang – Tumpak Sewu – Bromo – Ijen
Three days of waterfalls, volcanic landscapes and early-morning adventures, travelling from Malang across East Java towards Ijen before continuing to the next destination.
Tumpak Sewu Waterfall Adventure
Your journey begins with an early departure from Malang towards Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. Travel through rural landscapes, local villages and lush plantations before reaching the waterfall area.
Begin with the panoramic viewpoint overlooking the spectacular waterfall. If weather and local conditions allow, continue with a more active descent towards the lower area of the waterfall. The descent involves uneven paths, stairs and river crossings.
After exploring Tumpak Sewu, return to the vehicle and continue towards the Bromo area. Arrive at your accommodation, check in and rest early in preparation for the following morning's Bromo sunrise experience.

Bromo Sunrise & Journey to Ijen
Depart in the early morning by 4WD jeep towards the Bromo sunrise viewpoint. Watch the first light appear over the Tengger caldera and surrounding volcanic landscape.
Continue across the Sea of Sand towards Mount Bromo crater. Walk towards the crater rim or choose an optional horse ride at your own expense. After the Bromo experience, return to the accommodation for breakfast.
Continue the overland journey towards Banyuwangi and the Ijen area. The route passes through changing landscapes, plantations and rural communities. Arrive at the accommodation, check in and rest early in preparation for the midnight Ijen experience.

Ijen Crater & Journey to Bali
Depart around midnight by jeep towards the Ijen area and begin the trek with a local guide. Under suitable volcanic and safety conditions, there may be an opportunity to witness the Blue Fire phenomenon before sunrise.
Continue towards the crater rim as daylight arrives and enjoy views of Ijen's turquoise volcanic lake and surrounding landscape. Return to the jeep after the trek and travel back to the accommodation.
After breakfast and check-out, continue to Ketapang Harbour. From here, travellers may continue towards Bali by public ferry to Gilimanuk or arrange another onward transfer according to the selected travel plan.

The standard journey concludes after reaching Ketapang Harbour. Travellers continuing to Bali can cross the Bali Strait by public ferry to Gilimanuk. Other onward arrangements to Banyuwangi, Surabaya or Malang may be arranged depending on the selected travel plan.

This journey involves trekking, uneven terrain, early-morning departures, a midnight Ijen excursion and long-distance road transfers. A reasonable to good level of physical fitness is recommended.
