Javan Gibbon
The Javan Gibbon, also known as the Silvery Gibbon, is an arboreal primate native to Java. Its long arms allow it to move efficiently through the forest canopy, while its distinctive vocalisations can sometimes help visitors locate groups within the forest.
Into the Rainforest
The journey moves from Jakarta into the forest landscape of Ujung Kulon. After reaching the park boundary, the expedition continues on foot through dense tropical forest toward the camping area and wildlife observation locations.
More Than the Gibbon
While the Javan Gibbon is the main focus, the forest may also provide opportunities to encounter other primates and wildlife. The itinerary mentions Javan Lutung, Grizzled Leaf Monkey and Crab-Eating Macaque among the species that may be observed along the trekking route.
Two Nights Close to Nature
Rather than staying in a conventional hotel, this expedition uses a forest camping setup close to the wildlife observation area. Camping equipment, porter support and meals are arranged as part of the expedition programme.
Good to Know
• This is an active wildlife expedition involving jungle trekking and overnight camping.
• Wildlife sightings are naturally dependent on weather, forest conditions and animal behaviour and cannot be guaranteed.
