Day 1. Jakarta Hotel – Javan Gibbon Tour Ujung Kulon
Pick-up in hotel Jakarta at 05.00 a.m. by our driver, then we drive to the border of Ujung Kulon National Park by private car. On the way to the border, breakfast and coffee break will be served at the local restaurant. After breakfast, we continue to the border of the park.
Then we will walk and start the jungle trekking to the camp site to set up the camp close to the Javan Gibbon spot. We hope we will be lucky to see the other primates on the way to camp site such as Javan Lutung, Grizzled Leaf Monkey, Crab-Eating Macaque and Javan Gibbon.
Day 2. Javan Gibbon Encounter
After breakfast at base camp, we will walk around the forest where we can do for scanning for The Silvery Gibbon also known as the Javan Gibbon, a primate Gibbon. It is endemic to the Indonesia Island of Java, where it inhabits undisturbed rainforest up to an altitude of 2.450 M. It has been listed as Endangered on the IUCN red list since 2008, as the wild population is estimated to comprise less than 4000 mature individuals.
Day 3. Javan Gibbon Tour – Jakarta Hotel
After breakfast at base camp, we walk from one spot to the other spot where we will focus to Javan Gibbon, the silvery gibbon lives in pairs and stakes out territory that the pair strongly defends. It has relatively small territories of about 42 acres. Females sing to declare their territory several times a day, and if strangers are spotted, the male screams in an attempt to scare them away. The majority of the solo song bouts or scream bouts are produced by females. Then at 10.00 a.m. we will go back to the border and the driver will drop you off to Jakarta hotel/airport.
