Expedition Korowai Tribe 8D/7N
Expedition Korowai Tribe is an 8D/7N expedition trip. You will experience the cultural of Indonesia, not to mention it nature. The Korowai Tribe and the Asmat Tribe are two distinct indigenous tribes that live in Indonesia, province of Papua (formerly known as Irian Jaya) on the island of New Guinea. Although they have some similarities in their cultures and ways of life, they are separate groups with distinct languages, customs, and traditions. However, the Korowai tribe is known for their unique treehouse dwellings, which are built high above the ground in the dense rainforest canopy. Because they have traditionally live in a semi-nomadic hunter-gatherer lifestyle, relying on hunting, fishing, and gathering forest resources for their survival. However, Korowai have a reputation for being skilled hunters and for their elaborate ceremonies and rituals, which often involves elaborate face and body painting.
The Asmat people are known for their intricate woodcarvings, which are highly prized by collectors and museums around the world. Because they have traditionally lived in riverine communities along the coast and in the swamps of southern Papua. So, like the Korowai, they have traditionally been semi-nomadic, moving their settlements with the seasons in search of food and resources. However, both the Korowai and Asmat have faced significant challenges in recent decades, including displacement from their traditional lands, exploitation by outside interests, and the encroachment of modern society. Despite these challenges, both groups continue to maintain their unique cultural traditions and identities and they are working to preserve their way of life for future generations.
